i have no sound on blank 4.7 trinity install on Fujitsu Lifebook 7411
tried

Have you checked that KMix has Current Mixer -> Master set to your audio hardware? Right-clicking on the speaker icon (on the system tray) should take you there. Alternatively, type kmix in the search bar (after clicking the Start button)

kmix seems ok.

audio server could not be started.
TDE Control says .- no soundcards -
Audio devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG
.

tried to use newer kernel with
qinst-kernel-bpo
but got
This script is not enabled for the current distribution: bullseye

You need to edit the script in /usr/bin/qinst-kernel-bpo

Third line down it checks for the release - at the moment it says

if [ "$A_QAPTDISTR" != "buster" ] ; then

You need to change that to

if [ "$A_QAPTDISTR" != "bullseye" ] ; then

This can be done by

sudo nano /usr/bin/qinst-kernel-bpo

edit the line
Ctrl-W to save
Ctrl-X to exit

Developers advised a while back - 21st November.

Not sure if you're using Pulseaudio at the moment. I recall you need to right click on the Kmix icon and select master channel - or something of that nature. Pulse should be installed by default but worth checking.

tried the new kernel with modified script with no luck.
by the way. the script is in /bin/qinst-kernel-bpo not /etc/...

still no sound.

The issue seems to be hardware dependent, we will try to get similar hardware, try to test and post back, if it passes.

if it help:
a mx 21 live medium on that computer, audio works.
AlsaMixer says: Device sof-hda-dsp chip Realtek ALC255

Intel Tiger Lake audio( Intel Realtek audio) requires at least the 5.14 kernel or newer. Using a kernel older than 5.14 means not only your audio but some features of the Tiger Lake cpu wont work as intended.. MX21 uses the 5.14 kernel if Im not mistaken.

Most recent image for MX21 includes 5.14 kernel but you can also install from MX package installer in the kernel section.

Ok, i solved it.
install the firmware-sof paket did the trick.
After restart i hear the q4os welcome sound.

Great, thanks for sharing that info. We will consider a direct support for this hardware in Q4OS, which could be automatic detection and offer firmware for installation on the first boot.

to complete install information for the business notebook Fujitsu Lifebook 7411
(should work for Fujitsu 7311 and 7511 to)

for touchpad support i added with

sudo nano /etc/modules

i2c-hid
i2c-hid-acpi

i2c-hid is for the recent kernel (<5.12), i2c-hid-acpi works with backport kernel (>=5.12)

i did also changing Bios: >Advanced>Miscellaneous Configurations:
CPU Power Saving (AC) to "Normal" and
CPU Power Saving (Battery) to "Normal"
That helped to optimise TDEpowersave standby mode (e.g. closing and opening notebook)
