Newbie , Q40s will not connect to internet but I have internet and

I have internet on the Desktop and can get around but I can not upgrade or change my profiler in q40s? I have been reading for the last week trying to figure it out, I cannot reinstall drop box because It says Internet can not be found. please help before I throw this beloved desk top away..

I am hard wired to a modem...I am using the desktop now to make contact here...

I don't understand whether your problem is
- connecting to Internet
- upgrading / changing your "profiler" (what is this?)
- re-install Dropbox
And who is "it" who says Internet can not be found?

Can you
- hover the mouse over the Network conections icon in the tray and look at the popup: is a connection active?
- right-click on that icon, choose Configure connections and look at the parameters: do they seem correct?

I have a simulaur problem. I can use the internet as i am using it to create this post. When i use the desktop profiler to select a profile or install any apps i get an error 30.
I ran wget q40s.org and got an error: certificate fo q4os.org is not trusted.
