Solution for problem with Opera and video

Since some time there are problems with playing videos with Opera. It is about a license and a file libffmpeg.so, which apparently has to be replaced. The whole thing is a bit strange, because if you only have to replace this file, why is it not already included in the package of Opera. Some say it is a legal problem and Opera is not allowed to supply the correctly working file, that would be illegal.

Ok, I don't care, I just want Opera. So on Debian I uninstalled Opera completely, also deleted the Opera folders. Then I installed Opera as snap. I used this tutorial:

https://snapcraft.io/install/opera/debian

The installation takes its time, but the result was positive, Opera works correctly and plays the videos. You then have to make a launcher and if you want you can take the Opera icon to it. Or you can start Opera from the terminal:

snap run opera &

I copied the libffmpeg.so of the snap installation and put it aside, you never know.

Of course I also tried to add the libffmpeg.so to the Opera installation on Q4OS, but there was no success. Why I do not understand.

Whether the snap installation will continue to work, I do not know yet. That will be seen when there is an update.

If someone wants to investigate further, aks me for the file or do the snap installation by your own.

Re: Solution for problem with Opera and video

In the meantime I've found a solution to the Opera problem without using snap. How long this solution will work is uncertain:
