Hi everyone! Hope you're all having a nice life!
Norbert Preining has made available in his OBS repo Plasma 5.23(5.22.90)which is still a beta release. https://www.preining.info/blog/2021/09/ … ent-126711
Starting with today, we provide binaries of Plasma 5.23 for Debian stable (bullseye), testing, and unstable, in each case for three architectures: amd64, i386, and aarch64.
To test the current beta, please add
deb https://download.opensuse.org/repositor … TRIBUTION/ ./
to your apt sources (replacing DISTRIBUTION with one of Debian_11 (for Bullseye), Debian_Testing, or Debian_Unstable). For further details see this blog.
It's worth mentioning that:
Warning
This is a beta release, and let me recall the warning from the upstream release announcement:DISCLAIMER: This is beta software and is released for testing purposes. You are advised to NOT use Plasma 25th Anniversary Edition Beta in a production environment or as your daily desktop. If you do install Plasma 25th Anniversary Edition Beta, you must be prepared to encounter (and report to the creators) bugs that may interfere with your day-to-day use of your computer.
I've been using Norbert's repo for quite some time now, and so far, so good. So, I did upgrade Plasma to 5.22.90.
Upgrade instructions are in his blog.

Interesting - I had a crack at going to 5.22 using the blog info https://www.preining.info/blog/2021/06/ … or-debian/ with settings as Debian_11 rather than Testing.
All went OK but it still shows as KDE Plasma 5.20.x
Tried a dist-upgrade and it all went a bit pear shaped.
Did you remove the q4 repo data and pinning from your /etc/apt?

Try this https://www.preining.info/blog/2021/08/ … -unstable/ and read here https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3738

No, I didn't remove, disable and/or change anything, just followed his blog's instructions. Though I've been using the OBS repo for some months now, I think since Plasma 5.21 was out, and Bullseye/Gemini has 5.20.

Thanks Tolkem.
Interesting - this time round it seemed to go smoothly - and yet that was what I did first time (I *think*)
OK I've updated https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3738 with a slight modification to the order post update as I did struggle a bit till I realised that plasma-workspace is the first thing you have to install after reboot and going to TTY.
So, now all good on 5.22!
