Where are you getting this error? Q4OS Centaurus(Debian 10/Buster) or Q4OS Gemini(Debian 11/Bullseye)? If the latter, libappindicator has been deprecated https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/ … eprecation The alternative (maintained upstream and Debian-downstream) is libayatana-appindicator.

Re: *SOLVED* libappindicator3.

Your inxi says it is Q4OS Centaurus, so libappindicator should be still available, I think. What were you doing when you got this error?

Re: *SOLVED* libappindicator3.

I was online and the internet service went down. Don't know if that file got corrupted someway or what. Used "locate" to find it in /var/cache/apt/archives/libappindicator3-1_0.4.92-7_amd64.deb - ??

Well, is it installed? Launch konsole and run,

apt policy libappindicator3-1

then paste/post the output in your reply. Reading here https://debian.pkgs.org/10/debian-main- … 4.deb.html it says

A library to allow applications to export a menu into the panel. Based on KSNI it also works in KDE and will fallback to generic Systray support if none of those are available. This package contains shared libraries to be used by GTK3 applications.

So, sorry, but I can't see the relationship between being online and that. What app/tool were you using or trying to use that triggered that error?

Re: *SOLVED* libappindicator3.

libappindicator3-1:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 0.4.92-7
  Version table:
     0.4.92-7 500
        500 http://ftp.debian.org/debian buster/main amd64 Packages
W: Unable to read /etc/apt/sources.list.d/virtualbox.list - open (13: Permission denied)

Using Brave browser, watching video (I think). Happens on all aps now.
Can I apt install it?
edit: I see it is in synaptic - would that be a better way?

Yes, you should install it and see if the problem goes away. Use whatever method you feel most comfortable with, for instance, synaptic will do just fine.

Re: *SOLVED* libappindicator3.

Looks like the synaptic install fixed it. Thanks for all your help. I did install a serial terminal program that uses GTK3 (I think) and it may not have installed everything. Strange that it waited a couple of days before giving an error!

You're welcome. Glad you solved it. Yeah, it was probably that program that triggered the error.
