Bluetooth problem

On my PC I am using a bluetooth adapter connected to it. I installed blueman to be able to make a connection, but when I try to add a device I get a message saying that there is no adapter.
The adapter works fine in Windows so I doubt it is a problem with it. Any recommendation?

Re: Bluetooth problem

What is the adapter?  Is it one of the 2-in-1 combo cards (Intel AC9260/7265/etc.) that have wifi and bluetooth, or one of the standalone USB Bluetooth dongles?

Re: Bluetooth problem

With it plugged in, can you post the output of the lsusb command?

Bus 002 Device 005: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)

That's your bluetooth dongle.

Not being familiar with that chipset, I'm going to start at the basics.  Do you have the bluez-firmware and bluez-tools packages installed (you should, pretty sure they're a dependency of blueman, but not 100% sure)?

Both are installed

Re: Bluetooth problem

You are lucky! Your adapter uses CSR (Cambridge Silicon Radio) chipset. It has problems with initial identification, but once being identified, it should work normally. At least people say so. I do not have it by myself.
Anyway, there is a solution, how to make it to identify itself in Kernel: https://fosspost.org/linux-bluetooth-problem/
The devices ID there is 0a12:0001. Same as your device ID. So it should work.
But! This will require patching and rebuilding the Kernel!
So before make full system backup using Timeshift, to be able to restore your system in case something goes wrong.

Update!
In comments, there is written, that "It seems this patch was merged into mainline a few days after you wrote this. For anyone who needs to fix this issue, if you don’t want to mess around with patching your kernel, you can just upgrade to kernel 5.9 or greater."
and "The patch was merged in the mainline kernel. Just download the latest version of the kernel and the patch will be already in it."
So, try to update your kernel first!

Before asking for help please read this topic: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502   If you have problems with WiFi network, try to install the Network Manager using Q4OS Software Centre.
