been trying to find a file explorer app for q4os without success

You can install 4pane, it's essentially an attempt to recreate q-dir in linux.

thanks - i was hoping for something else.
4pane doesnt make it easy to have a differenr physical drive in each pane

The only other quad panel manager I'm even AWARE of for linux is Polo, which never had a full release, and the last beta is 3 years old.  The last beta that was released DOES still work on my KDE Neon install, however, if you wanted to risk trying it (I have absolutely no idea if it shows the hardware the way you want or not, I installed started and uninstalled just to see if it worked).
