My hard drive does not work in USB 3.0

I would like to ask for help because when I connect my Toshiba brand external hard drive to the only USB 3.0 port of my laptop (Asus x453s) I have noticed that it does not work at the speed of USB 3.0, so I have to connect it to the 2.0 port and perform all the copies from the latter. I appreciate any information.

Have you tried it on a different computer forex. Windows or some other distro

Plz tell me the results, you can probably use virtual box to test it out in other os without dual  booting
