Background is that the other day there was a kernel update on Debian Stable
I didn't notice anything at the time, but yesterday's grub update threw a few errors and didn't install properly - or at least that was what it said. However it shows as deb10-u3 and is working
When I run sudo update-grub I see the USB drives as shown at the end.
Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-4.19.0-14-amd64
Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-4.19.0-14-amd64
/dev/sdb: open failed: No medium found
/dev/sdc: open failed: No medium found
I use gnome-disk-utility for all sorts of stuff including as a great GUI for ISO writing.
The utility allows you to power off USB drives - so I powered off the internal addon stack of USB ports and card reader which show in Disks as /dev/sdb and /dev/sdc.
Run update-grub and the entries are gone. So - all good but a bit concerned that the grub package update seemed to fall over - may be a different issue.
