VLC works unstable

VLC sometimes doesn't play video.
First two files (which I chose from folder separately) plaid correctly, then when I chose third file from the folder VLC won't play it.
I tried to quit VLC choosing "Quit" in right click on the tray, but it doesn't quit.
Only after reboot VLC can play 2 files, then again - third file it won't play.
Hardware - old Asus K52N.
