Weird Intermittent Buzzing Sound [SOLVED]

Hi All,

I have a pair of mains powered speakers plugged into the headphone jack. On first install sound worked fine. The mixer in the system tray would change the volume. Somethings happened and I don't know what? All I did was run latest updates which included a kernel and switch off system sounds in the control panel applet.

Now, I get a loud popping at times, sometimes just before or just after sound but worse is that after a short while of no sound the speakers start buzzing loudly. If I then start to play say some quiet music all is fine?

I've also noticed that the volume in the system tray now does nothing and is labeled 01001001 ??

Any tips?

Re: Weird Intermittent Buzzing Sound [SOLVED]

OK so I have just right clicked on master volume control in system tray and chosen "Select Master Channel" as HDA Intel PCH and now that control is working...

Re: Weird Intermittent Buzzing Sound [SOLVED]

In Control Centre > Configure there is an option 'Auto-Suspend'

Un-ticking the box seems to have cured the issue?
