USB flash drive issue with Dell Dimension 2400

If booting to desktop with flash drive already plugged in, only one icon displays in tray (sdb1)

If booting to desktop first, then plugging in flash drive, two icons display in tray (sdb and sdb1)

Is this normal?

It's most likely a bug. We will add that onto our todo list, check and possibly report it at the upstream Trinity developers. Thanks for reporting.

If they try to reproduce the bug, please let them know that I am using Scorpion 2.7 with a Dell Dimension 2400, Pentium 4 / 2.2GHz, 1.5GB RAM. Thank you.

I do not have this issue with Q4OS Orion 1.8, with the same hardware. So unless it's a completely different version of Trinity, I suspect it might be kernel-related.

Re: USB flash drive issue with Dell Dimension 2400

It's nothing to worry about. It's just the way a running desktop system sees the USB drive partitions when it tries to mount. I think it is the way the iso is built - but it works and that's the main thing.

There are setting in KDE for mounting external drives, you can auto mount everything, mount nothing or just auto mount drives that have been previously auto mounted. I think like bin noted different systems handled this differently. MacOS also will not display a usb drive that is plugged in while booting, only those drives inserted after the system has booted.
