I use Q4OS on a Pinebook Pro and a Raspberry Pi and it runs alright, better on the Raspberry than the Pinebook Pro. I just came across the Trinity Desktop a few months ago, and I find it very enjoyable. I do miss advancements that have come to Dolphin with KDE, and I work a good deal with PDFs so I miss the power of Okular as well.
Q4OS on the Pinebook Pro and Raspberry Pi appears quite focused on the Trinity Desktop and I have not done any experimenting on installing KDE applications. The Raspberry Pi 3B+ probably does not have the resources to run bigger KDE applications, and the Pinebook Pro build is still pretty rough and I hate to do much expermenting with and experimental build.

Large update today but no issues. KDE 5.18.3 and 5.4 kernel so in particukar newer hardware users will be in decent shape.

Reporting back, no issues at all and even with quite a few large updates, no issues there either, Ive tried many apps, multimedia and even one game without issues,
Resource usage is between 377-450mb at GUI and Ive got it installed on a 128gb SSD and no issues there either. Pretty nice for a testing version.

I just came across this discussion today and have not tried the OS itself (but I will try for sure).
But the name I can already offer, if it is still relevant.
---------
QubOS Plasm(a)
QuatrOS -- " --
MagiQOS Plasm
Magic4OS -"-
Magi4OS -"-
MagiQ4OS
------------
I have only one question - "How (support) will this project develop?"
Will it be on a long-term basis (support) or not?

I have been using this OS from a flash drive for almost 3 hours, I have already installed all the necessary programs and add-ons - everything went like clockwork, without problems and without difficulties. I will use it for a couple more days and ... probably I will change the previous OS (Q4OS) to this version.
One thing only confuses that everywhere goes "kubuntu"
--------------
kubuntu @ kubuntu: ~ $ inxi -F
System: Host: kubuntu Kernel: 5.4.0-18-generic x86_64 bits: 64 Desktop: KDE Plasma 5.18.4 Distro: Q4OS 4.0.0-n1
-------------
Is it just now because it's on a flash drive or is it really "kubuntu" with adaptation from the Q4OS team?
But I like the OS itself - easy, nimble and understandable.
Nice to use.
Well done. Thanks.

Yes it definitely is Kubuntu 20.04 with Q4OS perks and tools. It runs very well and far better than Kubuntu 18.04 did when I tried it as a beta.

In reality, there is nothing wrong with this, but I already use the OS ode with the same logo in the download (ExTiX 20.2 KDE Plasma) and the same based on Ubuntu 20.04.
I am interested in further support and the future of kernel updates - will it be a rolling option or do I need to do a “clean install” again using ISO?
And so, the system itself suits me more because of the ability to install additional programs and add-ons, which are still more likely to be in Ubuntu than in Debian.

Keep in mind, Quark is an early testing build serving for reconnaissance. It might, but must not, become a real stable OS. We will consider users response as well as other factors and decide, whether to release it in a future as an independent OS, even with different branding and naming, see https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.ph … 452#p17452
Thanks for naming suggestions too

In fact, I would not be against the new OS with any of its “zest”, especially since it is on KDE, which is very convenient for me. If you do something like "from the future", but with a stable update, then I would love to use it - I like to try everything new. I think I'm not the only one. But you know better.
I just wanted to know what to expect in the future, but I’m always ready to test the “understandable” OS and find something interesting for myself.

The one big advantage you get with going off Fossa is that it does have the latest LTS version of Qt - which won't surface in Bullseye stable till some time in 2021. However with all the sniping and snarling going on in Qt land it may be there's a rocky road ahead. OK these things do happen and usually settle down but????

Well, in this case, there is also a healthy grain

Well that's it, I already installed the OS and ... I'm impressed.
Not only that, I also upgraded the kernel to 5.6.2 and so far everything is working smoothly and ... as the doctor ordered.
Thanks to the developers and the whole team - thanks to people like you, the whole world is spinning in the right direction.
Well done.
Very well done!
I will stay on this OS.
For a while, at least.

Ill continue testing it as its not a final version and will also look at Kubuntu 20.04 itself when it releases hopefully in about a week.

Its really nice and very stable but offers far more updated apps than the Debian based version.

I do not find anything bad or disturbing in this - in the modern world, changes are so swift that it is time to get used to it. Especially in the field of IT.

Kubuntu 20.04 will release 4/23/Thursday so how will that affect Quark and will it become an actual distro we can use?

Ubuntu Quark will keep testing at least for a few weeks. We are planning to make Trinity desktop as an option accessible via the Desktop profiler, while separate it completely off the default install. A few issues need to be fixed too.
EDIT: A cleanup of this topic as mentioned recently has been made.

That would be fun to have Trinity as a choice with an Ubuntu based distro. Thanks for the info as I prefer to stay with Quark and avoid Kubuntu if I have the choice.

Awesome - can't wait!!!!
EDIT:- Of course you can try the Ubuntu 18.04.04 Trinity TDE release from Trinty's link to http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/tr … -amd64.iso
.....which is OK if you like vanilla TDE.

Thats the issue Ive had with Trinity outside of Q4OS, as its either vanilla or has issues. Im guessing with Quark I may be changing my mind about using Trinty as I still prefer KDE.

If I use the previous version, is it necessary to reinstall everything from scratch or are these updates installed automatically?
