Hi! I have a request. Maybe in future there can be a start menu that looks like a windows 7? and maybe a xp theme?
Thank you!!!!!

If you use look switcher from control panel -> Appearance and themes you can switch to a more XP style interface, of course you could tweak it to be more what you would like.

Thank you for the reply. I do have the XP interface enabled, I was just wondering if there was an application to make the TDE menu look more like a Windows 7 and/or XP. I tried gnomenu but that didn't work.

I seem to recall someone mentioning another xp style on the forum, maybe they can offer some help.

Do you know of any applets that can replace the start menu?

I haven't tried changing the menu really, but I think you can edit it to more suit your taste.

The XPQ4 Application has a Win7/vista Look option - Download here: http://xpq4.sourceforge.net/
It is a Q4OS Installer Application sames as used in Q4OS Software Center uses.
NOTE: !!! Switching Themes will:
require a a logoff - logon to finish switch process (so save work and close open programs)
remove revert all custom changes you have made such as: (you will have to reconfigure them again)
Applications added to taskbar
Wallpaper
Menu Icon
Install the XPQ4 Applicaiton and select Win7/Vista
Logoff - Logon on
-------------------
First XPQ4 Boot Up:
-------------------
Now Switch Desktop to "Trinity Classic"
--> Right click taskbar --> Click "Configure Panel..." --> Menus --> TDE Menu Style = "Trinity Classic"
--------------------
This is Win7 - Trinity Classic on Q4OS with XPQ4 Win7 Wallpaper (got to lose the wallpaper !)
--------------------
MUCH BETTER NOW !

So, you are looking at just resizing the menu button (wider) and then just add that same image ? (OR ?) Would seem possible to resize menu icon image.
Will look in to it.

I would like to resize the menu icon image and make the icon background wider. I don't now how, i'm a total newbie. Also, I can't create or tweak any application because I don't have the computing skills to do so (i'm only 15).

Don't find any info for KD3 / Trinity 3.5 to do what you ask. KDE4 can resize these icons but, not just the start Menu Icon.
Looks like that all icons are set to pixels 16, 32, 64 and that work for this much wider start menu icon.
Will this work for you ?

Not quite. Maybe something like this:(screenshot below) to this:http://talk.maemo.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=25487&d=1332085717
Note: the linked image is a theme for KDE/TDE.

Is it possible to update to KDE 4?

Yes it is, look here, http://q4os.org/dqa005.html
No, this is the old documentation valid for superseded Q4OS 0.5 version. The right instructions you will find here http://www.q4os.org/dqa007.html#dskenv

If I upgrade, will I lose my data?

Also, will it still have the XP theme?

I call it a hack-around But it only works for me. I put the start menu button on my wallpaper in the exact location and matched the color for the Start Green Button and sized it to fit. Now, if I never change anything it will work
There is a way to change the background on the taskbar that might duplicate what I show here too.

Thanks cc if people find out all the effort they might not think so (just kidding). I'll see if the taskbar background can do this better and report back.
