After installation of an USB 3 PCI-E card the card is detected both by lsusb and lshw but neither an USB stick nor a media plugged into a cardreader attached to the card is detected. Also lsmod lists module xhci_hcd and xhci_pci als loaded and usbcore depending on it.
If I plug the same USB stick to the USB 2 port, it works.
Any ideas why and how I could make use of that card?

Quick update: The problem is still there and I am not alone with it. This USB 3.0 card is based on the VL805 chipset, which apparently has Problems in Linux, see: https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2390208 or http://billauer.co.il/blog/2019/07/via- … cie-linux/ or https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1376455 in the latter there is a hint that disabling IOMMU in the BIOS might solve the Problem, but I can't find an IOMMU Option in the BIOS of my HP DC5850 box, which I use for Q4OS. I tried the solution outlined in http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.ph … msg1230267 but it did not work for me or better my motherboard (Dual core Athlon 4450B, RS780 Chipset, 8GB RAM, Dual SSD (120+240GB).
Does anybody have an idea?

I was not able to get the card with the VIA VL805 chipset working and I finally replaced it with one with a NEC720201 chipset. Worked out of the box without any problems.
