I recently purchased a UHD (4K) monitor, and while I've found support for scaling better than expected, it doesn't seem there is any support for adjusting the actual resolution to a lower value, nor is there support for rotating the screen. The monitor itself does support these options, but I can't find any mechanism in Q4OS to do this. The "Monitor & Display" configuration provides only one option, the native (maximum) resolution and the standard orientation. It cannot be raised or lowered, at least not via the UI.
Any way to adjust this?
Thanks!

We would recommend you to use the "tderandrtray" utility. It provides resolution settings as well as rotation and other adjustments.

I tried the tray utility as well. There was only the one default option and no others.
It had the option to open the same "Monitor & Display" window I described earlier which gives an error any time anything is checked or unchecked in there, "xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default."

I still have not gotten this to work. What's more, the audio output jack on the monitor is not recognized at all anywhere. It's like this whole system cannot even see what kind of monitor I have or how it is connected. There isn't any option to anything but scale and use the default PC audio. Is there some limitation with DisplayPort connections or something, or does it just not like my monitor?

Did you check the /var/log/Xorg.0.log ? You can attach it here to analyze.

You mention DisplayPort - it may be worth running this in Konsole to see if it makes a difference.
xrandr --output DisplayPort-0 --mode 1920x1080 --rate 60
It will also help to know more about your hardware - so please could you paste the output of
inxi -F

I have attached the log file.
The output of the first command line for xrandr is the same as trying to do anything with xrandr or the display settings. Additionally, it can't find anything called DisplayPort.
xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default
warning: output DisplayPort-0 not found; ignoring
The inxi command yields this:

Have you Intel graphics driver installed ?
$ sudo apt install xserver-xorg-video-intel
Online
That CPU was only launched Q4 of 2018 and so might not be compatible with the current kernel, you could try upgrading to the kernel available in debian-backports (5.04) (as well as graphics firmware) which might give you better results.

It looks like it is installed:
xserver-xorg-video-intel is already the newest version (2:2.99.917+git20180925-2).
It is a new CPU. Being somewhat new to Linux though, I once ruined a whole install trying to upgrade Linux kernel versions on a completely different distribution and an older computer and processor.
I did try again nonetheless, and as before, the display failed to even start. Kernel upgrades seem to kill the display entirely in my experience, so there must be something more to it in order to get more than a command prompt at startup.
Fortunately, I was able to Google my way to figure out how to remove the newly installed kernel via command line (which was available).
Apparently though something is off with the display settings. That "gamma" error message seemed strange.

I seem to have overlooked that. I didn't seem to see any additional firmware available for install, but I could force an upgrade on the versions that were installed.
I did the firmware upgrades along with the kernel upgrade, and I got the same results. No display.

I recently upgraded my Ryzen box to use the 5.4 kernel and had to install firmware-misc-non-free and firmware-linux-non-free and I think firmware-linux as they all had firmwares relating to my system, I would check the installed packages and see if any firmware packages are already installed and then use the newer ones from backports (where available).
dpkg --get-selections | grep firmware
This will tell you which firmwares you have currently installed, although not all of them will be in use, and not all of them have been backported, but it will give you a starting point and I think the three I installed were all I needed.

Yes, I edited my last post. I missed that option at first. However, that upgrade failed to resolve the issue. It still failed.

Ok, it was worth a try.
