Q4OS-3.9 iso issues

Greetings all

Decided to give the new Buster Q4OS-KDE is a shot, to see how much it has changed/improved since the Stretch
rendition - alas, it has not - the install took at least 5x as long as PCLOS-KDE iso yesterday, on the same #12 of
25 partitions - the PCLOS iso is >2.4GB, the Q4OS <1GB - not good.

Reboot, automagically logged-in - nice, but still had to go thru the Nvidia, desktop samba - that desperately
needs to be updated/removed - its the same as the 2017, TDE iso - the KDE DE was flawless in its execution
which made up for the long, very slow install time - time to install some toys/tools - went with Synaptic, as
I always do, everything went well - no missing anything, but had 3x entries in menu, plus it would not execute
Something about missing lib files as I recall ... not a good omen

What compression algo are y'all using ?

Regards

jack

Re: Q4OS-3.9 iso issues

Greetings all

Gave this the good ol' college try again - tried a 3rd iso - q4os-3.9-x64.r1.iso, 931MB [12/17/19] fresh
download as of early this am - this time around the installer got stuck at ~  /usr/sbin/debian_adjust.sh
failed to finish in 600 seconds. ... as indicated at 65%  - it also trashed my grub/bootloader, which is
totally unacceptable - did a reburn, same result, I even tried two different USB sticks that I have been
using for eons, using multibootusb  ...  http://multibootusb.org ....

Nada, then burned the original 333MB [ d/d 12/04/17] TDE iso, which installed flawlessly into the same partition...

Same ol' Acer 5635G NB, with Intel dual core CPU, Nvidia GPU, 4GB RAM, 500GB Seagate HDD, et al, that
I use as a test-mule for all my distro/experimental work > 27 x partitions, it simply works flawlessly - 3GB,
8GB sticks
The fact that this install didnt make it at all indicates, the iso was changed from my two previous downloads

Does anyone have any bright ideas, solutions ... is there another Buster iso that is more reliable, maybe an
experimental or test iso?

Highest Regards

Jack

The iso hasn't changed certainly. We ever publish any different iso images under a unique name. Where did you download it from ?

The right iso is:
name: q4os-3.9-x64.r1.iso
sha1: 78aaa87bc78697c74cb03c51d4f17ce0ca1b0a50
MD5: 200ce33a04d89c88a0f62ab213b7b068
download: https://sourceforge.net/projects/q4os/files/stable/

If you would attach the log file "/tmp/q4hook2.log" of the failed installation, we may be able to check the log out.

Anyone else noticed this issue ?

Re: Q4OS-3.9 iso issues

Same iso file, same site ... iso was good or it would not have booted, loaded into RAM
Installer worked just fine ... the problem occurred as indicated above...
Where would I find "/tmp/q4hook2.log" ?

Re: Q4OS-3.9 iso issues

You need to perform a fresh installation. As soon as the error occurs just close Calamares installer, grab the "/tmp/q4hook2.log" file and attach it here.

EDIT: You could attach other generated log files "/tmp/*.log" as well.

Re: Q4OS-3.9 iso issues

Greetings all

I have done >6 failed attempts at installing your iso - just installed my own iso of 1.5GB
[a full SOHO O/S] on #9 - the install took 6 min, grub/bootloader a lot longer >25 O/S,
partitions - do miss legacy-grub - as my iso also has DEB roots, why not point me to the
source code, lets see if we can fix whatever ails it ''of what use be there for joy, if not for
the sharing thereof''
