Brand new to Q4OS Plasma. Running a live dvd to see how my hardware is going to work with the os. For the life of me I cannot find the firewall gui to start it, and when I use a terminal to try to run ufw firewall commands to turn on, or to see if the firewall is running at startup, I receive "command not found" errors. I`ve done some searching, but have come up empty handed. I`m suspecting it is completely operator error, and appreciate any and all hints/tips to help me in starting the firewall while running in live dvd. Thanks for your time and any help.

Go to synaptic and install gufw which will give you a GUI for the firewall ufw.

Please excuse my ignorance. Are you saying that Q4OS has to be installed before you can have a firewall, that when running from the live dvd the firewall will not work?

No Q4OS doesnt need to be installed as you can still add gufw and run the firewall while in live session.

Thanks for that info. I guess what threw me off was I`ve been running several diff flavors of linux over the past few years, linux lite, diff flavors of puppy, ubuntu, anti-x, etc etc., and the live cds/dvds always had ufw gui ready to go out of the box. I guess I got spoiled + my tin foiled hat makes me want to start anything security wise even when I run my live session cd/dvds. Thanks for taking the time, I appreciate it.

@vietvet70
Thanks for reporting. The ufw + gufw frontend will be added into the full desktop profile in the next Q4OS media revision. Anyway, various Linux distros don't come with firewall pre-configured, so you would still need to configure it throughout, but mostly after installation.

... I`ve been running several diff flavors of linux over the past few years ...
Q4OS wants to be as lightweight and configurable as possible. So it goes its own way, and differs from other Linux distros in a few aspects.
