Re: Default application for photos

Thanks Team. Gimp looks to be for professionals and it is forbidding! Awfully complicated for me. I wonder if there are simpler ones that I can download from the repositories. If you could also tell me the shortest way to access the repositories.

Re: Default application for photos

You may use 'pinta' as a simpler Gimp replacement. The best way to access repositories would be to install 'Synaptic' package manager from Software Centre.

Re: Default application for photos

The best application for viewing and organizing photos is XnView MP. It is a cross-platform software, but unfortunately is not included into repositories. You can download and install it from here: http://www.xnview.com/en/xnviewmp/
Make sure to choose 'Linux DEB' package. Also choose the correct architecture.
If you want fast and simple application for viewing photos - install Viewnior.
$ sudo apt-get install viewnior
For editing photos please look here: http://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=251

Before asking for help please read this topic: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502   If you have problems with WiFi network, try to install the Network Manager using Q4OS Software Centre.

Re: Default application for photos

For future reference, you may find Fotoxx to be useful for photo editing.  Lots of functionality but not as intimidating as GIMP, in my opinion.

Current setup:  Acer Aspire One D257 / Q4OS Centaurus / TDE / SeaMonkey 2.53.8.1
