problems setting up keyboard layout in TDE (Asus eeePC) [solved]

after a successfull installation of Q4OS on an old eeePC 1000H with US-english as default language, I have problems to swith the keyborad layout to german. I remember vaguely that I saw some note during installation that an eeePC was detected and something was additionally installed. But I neither can switch to Asus laptop keyboard layout nor to adifferent language layout. The control panel does not store any settings (neither from the task bar nor from the menu nor called with sudo tdecmshell keyboard_layout.

I was able to switch console keyborad settings by installing loadkeys by doing an apt install kbd console_data, but I don't have any idea how to switch in TDE.

Any help is welcome.

Re: problems setting up keyboard layout in TDE (Asus eeePC) [solved]

Hi - eeePC can be a bit quirky. I am assuming that it has German keyboard????

Open Konsole and

sudo kcmodules --unlock

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install tde-i18n-de-trinity

Control Centre>Regional & Accessibility>Keyboard Layout  - If needed, check the Enable Layouts box.
Ensure that German layout is in the active list on the right, if not, then add it from list on left. IF US is there you can remove it if it is redundant.

Does this work?
