I can't seem to figure this out, maybe I'm missing something but I cannot see kate (editor) in the start menu. Under Programs -> Accessories -> Utilities -> Editors it only shows kwrite. I know kate is installed and I can use it from konqueror (right click->open with->) but would like to see it in the menu.
Is there an easy way to add an item to the menu?

Hi Dia. Did you check the .desktop file to make sure Office is listed? I've seen this "glitch" on other apps in the past where the common category was not listed.

Thanks MC but I don't want the office suite installed, kate is installed just doesn't show in the menu.

Remove 'NoDisplay=true' line from '/opt/trinity/share/applications/tde/kate.desktop' file.
Alternatively you can add custom kate shorcut anywhere into the Start menu structure, see 'How can I customize my Start menu ?' http://www.q4os.org/dqa011.html#desktop.2

Tank you, exactly what I wanted.

May I ask why you have added 'NoDisplay=true' line? Does Kate works bad in Q4OS?
Before asking for help please read this topic: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502 If you have problems with WiFi network, try to install the Network Manager using Q4OS Software Centre.

I wondered that too...

To simplify things for newcomers. Kwrite is intended to be the default editor, powered users could run kate from terminal or create a desktop shorcut.
