Keyboard problem at install.

Got tired of Xubuntu on old IBM T43 laptop and Tried installing Q4OS. Can't seem to get past keyboard during install. Never had the problem with Windows 7 or Xubuntu. When it ask for name and password everything is garbled. Letters are all mixed up. Tried changing the keyboard to different kinds but it's always the same. For some reason it's not recognizing the keyboard. Everything else works, even wireless. Never had this problem even with old linux distros much less new ones. (q4os-2.7-i686pae.r4)
This was from the Live desktop.
Just wondering if I'm missing something, any advice?

Please check NumLock status first.

Re: Keyboard problem at install.

Assuming it's not a language selection problem, this is may be a number lock issue.

The Thinkpad has a  number pad mixed in with the keys UIOPJKLM and this can lead to these results.

May need Fn Numlock or Numlock to clear
