My report on successful install to an old MacBookPro:
1. Bought MBP for $10 at yard sale Seller said "It ain't working"; MBP was a 2010 "5,5" model, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.26Ghz, 1 processor, 2 cores, 3MB L2 Cache, 2 GB RAM, 1.07 Ghz Buss Speed, Boot ROM version MBP55.00AC.B03, SMC Version 1.47f2
2. Opened it up and vacuumed out dirt & bugs (tiny dead brown cockroaches mostly); used air blasts, etc.
3. Pulled dead HD tossed out; installed 254 GB SSD I had in spare parts bin
4. Pulled RAM, cleaned all contacts; pulled old battery, exchanged for new LiON; pulled CPU, re-greased with thermal stuff; cleaned fan blades;
5. Pulled DVD Drive, trashed it, installed second 128GB from same parts bin
6. D/L Q4OS and installed using external DVD drive
7. Ran complete install for Q4OS with laptop hooked to power and CAT 5 LAN/Cable
8. Did recommended installs of component applications, etc.
9. Ran burn in and other tests
Conclusions:
Q4OS is awesome; and since I hate Apple Products anyway, this is great revenge. No complaints here. Main Workstation is home-brew system running Ubuntu 18.10.
