You are welcome, it is also possible to have grub installed as a standalone, there are a few posts on the Debian User Forum about it but I have never needed to do it myself so not sure exactly what it would entail. Hopefully the reinstall will go well for you.

I just wanted to add to this thread a tutorial I have posted to show how easy it is to install / re-install grub from a Live-Cd when grub has been removed or some other failure, Hopefully it might help some other users.
