Q4OS setup on Devuan

We have modified the Q4OS interactive installation script to be capable to setup Q4OS on Devuan. Just download and run this script in terminal as 'root', see below, it will add Q4OS repositories and guide you through Q4OS setup process.

Login into the previously installed Devuan system via SSH, console or desktop and get ready to execute a few terminal commands. Download and run Q4OS setup script as 'root' superuser:
$ wget q4os.org/downloads/q4os-setup.sh
$ su
# sh q4os-setup.sh
Reboot and login into the fresh Q4OS Desktop.

Note: You will see a few error messages as the script tries to restart some systemd services, but none of them are serious, you can safely ignore them.

EDIT 2018-12-23: Devuan "Ascii" is not supported by the script, it could be included later.

Re: Q4OS setup on Devuan

What's the current situation with this?

I downloaded the script and looked at it.  Devuan and Ubuntu support are labelled as not supported yet.  Drilling down into the embedded scripts confirms this.

Currently Plasma 5 on Devuan Ascii has 5 bugs or misfeatures affecting me on a regular basis so I'd like to get back to an older KDE version - but not at the expense of running systemd.

Re: Q4OS setup on Devuan

Unfortunately, Devuan "Ascii" is not supported at the moment, the only way could be to add Q4OS repositories manually and try to install "q4os-desktop" package.

Re: Q4OS setup on Devuan

Thanks for the quick reply.  I suppose an alternative approach might be to install Q4OS and then migrate the underlying Debian Stretch to ASCII as per https://git.devuan.org/dev1fanboy/Upgra … o-ascii.md

A little experimentation is called for...

Re: Q4OS setup on Devuan

I have recently been playing with the latest exegnu version which is Trinity on Devuan ascii.

It works fine - there are a few rough edges and you need to be very wary of the installer if you are using a separate /home partition.

User group membership needs adjusting to allow printing and a couple of other minor tweaks. The only problems I have found on sysv-init releases have been usb hardware detection errors during startup - but it all seems to work eventually.

Re: Q4OS setup on Devuan

Is this solution still available or you hint to go for exegnu?
Thank you.
