Help install evince PDF viewer

Dear Q4OS support,
First time application installation attempt so please forgive me asking a likely simple question. Please bear with me, your support is very much appreciated.

I am trying to install the evince pdf viewer as I need to search in very large documents.

The steps I have taken are:

a) open the Terminal Program
b) type in the following text "apt-get install evince"

When I do this I get a message:

E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13: Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?

Any assistance appreciated.

Almost correct - try -

sudo apt-get install evince

it will ask for your password, enter that and it should work if it finds evince.

You might also search for it in synaptic package manager. I haven't done that, but it may be there.
