Q4OStore app?

The software center its very easy to use, and complains the basic installation for beginers. But if we want more, specially for people like me, avid Windows user an  begginer in the linux world, it's very hardly invastigate how damn install a game, a emulator, a ttf font!! Some times the debian packages are just incompatible or need to much work for beginers like me...
Even more, if we came from Windows 10 or OSX, even android, its very familiar to use an app store (Microsoft store, Google store, etc). Puppy linux has an app store, so Why not a Q4OStore app?
That will bring us some security and easy way to install more programs, apps, games to make easier and secure OS, i think.

Re: Q4OStore app?

There are plenty of package (store) apps available.  Synaptic is a very basic one that works well but isn't as pretty.  My preferred package manager is AppGrid, but I haven't checked to see if it's in the repos yet.

Re: Q4OStore app?

Doesn't Debian support Flatpak and/or Snap packages?

Re: Q4OStore app?

So our friends could get a few game apps if they installed Flatpak.

Re: Q4OStore app?

I didn't try flatpack (first time I hear about it). Sounds interesting, but I think that a Q4OStore o QStore could be a pretty thing to see in an operative system, like android and its playstore.
Even with flat pack, could be a nice feature to implement it's own store, with optimized software for this special distro.

Re: Q4OStore app?

From what i've seen so far, Q4OS KDE handles its selection of applications quite well.
The LibreOffice for example, is much more coherent in looks on Q4OS than the antiquated one i saw in KDE Neon (which is present version 6).

Re: Q4OStore app?

Right too. But the apps collection, optimized for Q4OS and the easy-to-install feature could be a nice feature for Windows-coming users. Remember that Windows 10 has a Microsoft Store and make to the user a simple, secure and fast way to install new apps, games and features. I really would like to see that in Q4OS.

Re: Q4OStore app?

I've intalled flatpak, it's really nice, when you made it. I mean, install flatpak (for me as a begginer in linux world) was a real headhache. But it's really nice, well balanced and a growing collection of apps. But, I'm still thinking that a store optimized for Q4OS could be even better. By the way, could it be reazonably include flat pak in future versions of Q4OS...

Re: Q4OStore app?

I like the idea of a software center for beginners too.  The use of other application installations is controversial.  Both flatpak and snap packages offer good and bad features.  If I am wrong please correct me.  But it seems flatpak packages will use up memory, so on an old PC running Linux not a good option.  Snap packages seem like they would use a lot of hard drive space since they include need dependencies.  K.I.S.S., please a software center for beginners.  smile
