Mouse port not working on new install

Mouse port not working on new install. old win 98se machine. work fine on win. Also tried serial mouse with no luck.

Hello and welcome to Q4OS

To help sort this out a bit more information would be useful please.
You say it's an old Windows 98 SE machine, laptop or desktop?
Is this a USB or PS/2 mouse port?

If you haven't already tried it I would start off with either the i386 or 686pae LIVE cd from here

https://sourceforge.net/projects/q4os/files/oldstable/

If you can get access to the web on that machine then please install inxi

sudo apt-get install inxi

via Konsole
Then run

inxi -F 

and provide the information it produces.
