Hi,
I am unable to install the Wine application from the software center. It seems that the available Wine version is not compatible with the latest Q4OS version. Is there a way to fix this?
Thanks.

We are not able to reproduce, wine installation from the Q4OS software center works fine here. Please post a more detailed info, at least error messages from the installer output window. It would be also helpful if you attach a screenshot or installation log from '$HOME/.appsetup2/log/setup-q4os-wine-layer.log' directory.

Here are the results of my most recent try.

You are using the testing version of Q4OS (Centaurus) and due to this there will be many things that do not work or do not work as expected, if you want a system to be working and stable you should really use the current version (Scorpion) which will be more compatible with all the software.
The Wine installer has not yet been "ported" to the testing version which is why you are seeing this error, and there will be other packages that have not yet been made ready for Centaurus too, so unless you can wait for this I would definitely recommend using Scorpion.
Also note that as Centaurus is in the testing phase it may "break" without warning, this is not the fault of the developers but it is simply due to the fact that it is not yet a "stable" release and should be used with some caution and definitely not on a system that you rely on for daily use.

Thanks Dai_trying for the exact explanation.
@quasar
If you want to install Wine within Q4OS 3 Centaurus, you can get it from repositories. Run in terminal:
$ sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
$ sudo apt update
$ sudo apt install wine wine32 wine-binfmt winbind

Thanks for all answers. I finally decided to get back to the most recent stable 2.4 version. Wine installed fine. Will keep a close eye to the development of the 3.1 version.

That's probably best for now, I have Centaurus installed on my laptop but I'm multi-booting with Scorpion, Windows 10, Debian Stretch and Q4os Windows install but I use Scorpion for my daily use as it is very reliable

@q4osteam thank you I finally managed to install wine on a DELL PRECISION M6300 this time. but not successful on the ACER.
I know the post is not good but it was worth it to go back the info because the commands I found here and on another of your post led me to successful installation. I specify that my error message was identical on the 2 pc on which I installed scorpion 2.7.
