New external monitor "Out of Range"

Sorry for my english....
I have an old laptop with default resolution 1400x1050. But the screen was broken, so I switched the video on my external monitor with default resolution 1680x1050.
When I install Q4OS, everything about external monitor was OK and all supported resolutions was detected.
The problem went when I changed my monitor with one with default resolution 1440x900. The system detect all monitor modes, but when i switched the default res. the signal turned off and monitor display "Out of range".
What can I do?
Rescan monitors can't help. Restart X server can't help!
Maybe reinstall intel 915gm driver?

Re: New external monitor "Out of Range"

This usually happens when you have selected a screen resolution that is not supported by your video card and/or monitor. what I would try first is a reboot to see if the resolution is re-set, but this might not be the case, if that does not work you can reboot again but this time select advanced options from the grub menu and boot into recovery mode, from there you should be able to set the screen resolution correctly. If that also fails post here and we will look at other ways to resolve it.
