Re: Thunderbird problem

Here's food for thought. My older machine running Q4OS Orion 1.8.8 works fine with the Thunderbird addon Nautopolis. All links function. It's a 32 bit machine. It's the HP Pavalion with 64 bit architecure with Scorpion 2.4 that's giving me trouble. I need to try the fix CC posted. Will let you know later the results.

Re: Thunderbird problem

Tried all the "fixes" in the link you sent me, CC. Deleted Thunderbird profile and renamed another profile.....no avail. I can just copy the link,in the browser, then open it. It's a "pain",but it'll have to suffice.

Re: Thunderbird problem

At first blush it sounds like classic HDD failure, but on further review its more akin to a very recent run-in
I had with Mint - it went on for years - several installs, different FS - even my favorite RFS, and cut several
DVD, on different brand media even - same old problem - it simply misbehaved, albeit erratically, mostly.

Many years later, after several CDROM failures, I went USB ISO - same Mint ISO - problem solved - baddabing

Bad install media - DVD in this case, all of them - I toosed hundreds of them recently in the bin ...
I remember years ago all my MS XP backup DVD failing after a couple months - NERO ??

Maybe delete, zero that partition, try a couple different test installs - TB has been one of the best/stable apps ever

Regards

Jack

PS - I just checked my TB/FF link - it woiks, so no need to call my Congressman or special counsel or CDC ... yet

PPS - is your mouse misbehaving? - try a different one

Re: Thunderbird problem

One more thing you could try, if you set the browser in Start -> Settings -> Control Centre -> TDE Components -> Default Applications -> Web Browser to Firefox (or the browser you want to use). It might need a log-out/in (or reboot?) to apply the setting, but might help...

Re: Thunderbird problem

Dai,
I tried that suggestion ( one of the first) awhile back. And  Jack, I would agree, but, this all functioned at first install. No problems. It was after I added the Nautopolis add on that it quick working. I've uninstalled, reinstalled it, I've made sure that all the config.editor settings were correct, deleted mime types.rfd, to re-establish, and changed my TB profile....still the same. At this point,I'll just live with it. I put up with an ex-wife complaining for years, this is nothing....LoL..! Someone at Mozilla will find a solution.

Re: Thunderbird problem

I have changed countries to get away from the dreaded growler - got to keep my beloved TB, though
Cant help but believe your add-on was merely the trigger that caused another event

This FF is still stuck on Swede speelchecker which drives my Google a/c sign-in nuts [for maintenance]
Fixed it in TB, but cannot fix it here ... like you, have done everything sane/logical
I didnt even d/l anything ... it just appeared ...uninvited, one sunny day

Were there any revisions/bugs/reports on your particular TB add-on, at the original TB source ?

Maybe someone back at the Deb & Ian Ranch has a weird sense oh humor

Regards

Jack

Baddabing - HP  has been a PIA for eons - ever since Carly Fiorina/Compaq deal
We will never buy another HP anything, ever
