Using a Huawei USB LTE stick which Q4O/S will not recognize at fresh boot before, nor after install
Actually have to reboot into Mint [ugh] for it to recognize the little devil
Mint sees it at first boot - prior to installation even - my new flavor-of-the-week 12Gig rescue disk
Surely with a new full-blown functioning Q4/TDE/KDE5/OS this should not be ?
Bought a new Vodafone 3G kit in UK many years ago that had a MS interface that nobody, even MS
could ever get to operate - ergo I wrote some software to get on the air - the PCMCIA stick was never
recognized by Linux, as it was grouped under USB devices - we had to manually turn the device on
This was on a tiny Sony Picturebook/98SE that I used for Skype - which today hardly works [skype]
Good to see Linus Torvalds throw the Intel conspiracy theorists under the bus ......sorry cc

The stock install of Q4 does not include modemmanager
"ModemManager is a DBus-activated daemon which controls mobile broadband
(2G/3G/4G) devices and connections. Whether built-in devices, USB dongles,
bluetooth-paired telephones or professional RS232/USB devices with external
power supplies, ModemManager is able to prepare and configure the modems and
setup connections with them."

Danke - rather strange that one must go thru all these pushups at this late stage of the game, when Mint/Debian
recognizes the little critter on first [live] boot - would have thought all the USB kit was built into the kernel by now
Will install und revert

Whilst digging around in KDE5 System Settings, Removable Storage, under disconnected devices
I discovered my USB LTE device was indeed disconnected so I checked both boxes & viola - it voiks
I can now plug/unplug it to my little hearts content ...
But it still does not cure the fresh install blues on a virgin disc
PS - this is again, overkill, by the sudo crowd who see a Stuxnet spy under every USB dongle
These puppies should be connected by default ... its just petty inconvenience, not security
