I've had some trouble trying to download the sources for Q4OS. I'm unable to view q4os.org/q4repo/ in my web browser without it returning a "page unavailable". I'm also unsure how to properly use apt-get source for any package (let alone the Q4OS packages), without it throwing "you must put some 'source' uris in your sources.list" even though I've got the Q4OS repos in my sources.list with the deb-src prefix. For the latter, I know I am doing something wrong, but I had a hard time parsing how the source command for apt-get is supposed to be used; based on forum posts and articles dedicated to the error.

The only way I know how to do this is to modify the files in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ and uncomment (remove the # from the beginning of the) lines that look like this :-
#deb-src http://q4os.org/q4repo q4os-2-0-cn main
After you have done this you must refresh apt with :-
sudo apt-get update
and then you can access the source (providing it exists and is available) for the packages in the repository in the usual manner.

I already had
deb-src http://q4os.org/q4repo
in my sources.list, and it didn't work.
#deb-src http://q4os.org/q4repo q4os-2-0-cn main
didn't work either.
If anyone knows what the protocol or port is that the repo is using, that would be a far easier way of downloading everything.

Putting a hash in front will prevent it from being read, but I would not be surprised if the source code is not available for all the packages in the Q4OS repository.
Is there a reason you want to download full source for everything? If you want to help the devs with anything I'm sure they are approachable.

I've been thinking about uninstalling Windows 10 on my home desktop machine and installing Q4OS. I just want to know it's safe, it looks safe to me but I'm not taking anyone's word for it until I've seen it myself.

Ok, I have just done a few small tests and it looks like the sources are not available for the Q4OS packages, it might be worth emailing the developers with your query, they may have another way to get the source.

Source repositories for 'http://q4os.org/q4repo' are not active so far. Q4OS patches are not properly formatted at the moment, however we are working in to make it available in a standard way.
If you would like to get a specific source codes, please ask them via e-mail support@q4os.org, you are welcome to check, modify, and/or publish them. All sources are available in accordance to GPL or a related licence depending on the project they are derived from.
You can also directly include vanilla source codes from Trinity repository, these sources are compatible with Q4OS.

Sounds good, thanks.
