This isn't specifically a q4os issue, but I thought I might get some help to fix the problem. My new ASUS K20 with APU quad core and Radeon R3 graphics came preloaded with Windows 8.1. I soon noticed a graphics bug : randomly and intermittently the screen would go black for a second, change to a higher resolution for another second, and then revert back to normal. A google search suggested that the graphics driver was most likely the culprit, but the installed driver was up to date, so apart from checking obvious things like monitor connections, I couldn't see a way forward.
Anyway, after a few days of trying Windows 8.1 and finding it a poor substitute for q4os, I installed Scorpion, hoping that the graphics problem might be fixed. Unfortunately is isn't, although now I only get the screen going black for a second, not the change in resolution.
Is there some Deb package I can install which might fix this? You can download drivers from the AMD site, but I can't find the one I need and anyway installing a new one seems to be a complicated process.
Any advice appreciated.

One thing you might need to do is install the correct graphics driver, you could install inxi and post the results of inxi -F which will give information about your system to enable us to identify what drivers you are likely to need.

You should be ok with the open source driver with the R3 but you may have to use the proprietary 15.7 catalyst drivers which do support the R3.

Is this the Asus K20DA-UK007s?

The fact that you are seeing an issue across operating systems is a bit worrying.
I'd be tempted to access the BIOS and do a reset to default values, also check the quality of the video cable - I assume HDMI? Try swapping with alternate, and or VGA if supported.
Also I'd take a look at the monitor settings to see if it is automatically trying to test/run at higher resolution than it supports.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I think you might be right there, bin. The monitor is an old one which I was previously using on my old pc with scorpion, so I don't think it's the settings, but I'll try changing the cable. At the moment it's VGA both ends but I will try VGA to HDMI.
@ crosscourt, it says K20DA-UK005S on the box.

Try a different VGA cable but there are driver issues with the R3 in both Windows and Linux but see what happens.
Thanks for the mpdel number Jerome! Is your bios up to date?

Something I have noticed since installing Scorpion is that my screen will sometimes flicker dark for just a fraction of a second.
The following then appears in dmesg.
[drm:i965_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun
