Asus Vivobook Suspend

Hi, I am wondering if there is a way to suspend an Asus Vivobook. Both sleep and hibernate do not work. When I put it in suspend the laptop screen goes dark and freezes with no response and I have to force it to shutdown by holding the power button for some time. The other thing is the touchpad doesn't work and I have use an external mouse all the time. Thanks.

Do you have tdepowersave installed,  www.q4os.org/dqa007.html#pwmanag

Do you have the touchpad drivers installed? Look here, www.q4os.org/dqa007.html#tchpad

Re: Asus Vivobook Suspend

Hi, I installed all but still not working. I tried the terminal command and no luck. Same thing is happening. The thing is though this Vivobook is not that Linnux friendly. I have tried many other distros with most of them freezing. Only Opensuse and Q4OS work without random system freezing. Suspend and touchpad do not work on any distro that I have tried. Q4OS works the best on it overall which is why I am willing to stick with it until I get a solution.

Re: Asus Vivobook Suspend

No doubt the Asus Vivobook E200HA is not Linux friendly and the Cherry Trail Atom  is a lot of the problem. Using other cpus would solve some of the issues. Given Intels association with Minix and the Intel ME on so many systems, Im surprised they did something like this.
Many issues with acpi with this system which isnt going to help.

Heres some good info from the Debian wiki on installing Debian on the E200HA, as Q4OS is based on Debian.

https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/Asus/E200HA

The suspend issue more than likely will not be solved and audio will not work it appears.

Both of our posters never mentioned what series/model of Asus Vivobook they had so Im assuming based on the problems its the Atom based series.

Thanks for the response. My Vivobook is the X505A model. I bought it brand new a few months ago. With what you said above I will keep using it as it is and stop worrying too much. Afterwords shutdown works and external mouse works fine. Plus Q4OS is not freezing like other distros. Thanks!

Re: Asus Vivobook Suspend

Does the X505a have the AMD processor?  I only have listings for the x505BA.  The Atom processor is a lot of the problem with the other system and the fact they never supported ACPI 3 properly.

Glad you got it working.

Re: Asus Vivobook Suspend

Hi, sorry for the late response. My Vivobook comes with the AMD A9 7th Gen processor. Runs fast and smooth. Very stable as well.

Re: Asus Vivobook Suspend

Youre model should do a bit better than the other system I posted about.
