How to know the version of the operating system installed on a computer?
Orion or Scorpion
can be updated using
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade?
Thank you very much for the information

From the command line (console) you can type get-q4os-version and it will give you the version number, if it begins 1.8 then it is Orion else if it begins 2.4 it is Scorpion.
Updates can indeed be installed that way (sudo apt-get dist-upgrade) just remember to sudo apt-get update first.

I executed the commands sudo, s ( update and upgrade)
It seems that it does not update.

you could enter
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
This would update your system to the latest packages available, but it will not upgrade to Scorpion. The devs have advised to perform a fresh install if you want Scorpion as often upgrading Os versions can be problematic.

I get it,
I will stay still this device is very old (DELL LATITUDE D620) and I have no problems with Orion
I will close the theme (solved)
Thank you very much for your information.

You are welcome.

Stick with Orion as the D620 would have issues with Scorpion.
