Also no multimedia programs, is that by design?
While testing Q4OS I tried playing a Youtube video, get the video ok but there is no sound.
The speaker icon is enabled, can adjust the slide control from 0% Volume to 100% and Mute is off. When I open KMix the 'Current mixer:' is HD-Audio Generic and I only have the 'Switches' tab. If I open the drop down menu I get a second instance of 'HD-Audio Generic' and when I choose that I get all 3 tabs (Output, Input & Switches) to work with. In 'Output' - Master, Front, Surround, Center & LFE are all enabled (green light is on) and the slide controls all move but nothing happens when I move them. Beyond that I don't know what to try.

Try to install pulseaudio and adjust volumes using pavucontrol.
sudo apt-get install pulseaudio pavucontrol

Q4OS Developers try to make Live system as small as possible. You can install VLC Media Player using Q4OS Software Centre.
Update: Here is a forum topic about your problem: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-9 … art-0.html
As I figured out, many people have problems with [AMD] FCH Azalia Controller, so you can find answer simply googling.

Before asking for help please read this topic: https://www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=3502 If you have problems with WiFi network, try to install the Network Manager using Q4OS Software Centre.

Thanks for trying Rademes, had no success with any of those suggestions.
I ended up skipping the Live CD trial and just installing it in a Virtual Machine to continue testing, once I did that the sound was working out of the box so it's all good now.

Rosko, I'm experiencing the same problems and trying the same path to solving, i.e. putting it in a Virtual Machine
Unfortunately without success so far...
Would you be so kind and tell me
what VM (VMware?) do you use
which version (1.4.11 64bit?) did you install?
which profile (pure / basic / desktop) did you select while installing?
Regards
Max

Hi Max
1) Oracle Virtual Box
2) 1.4.11 64bit
3) I honestly don't remember (and that computer is in for repair so I don't have access to it for a while) but my guess is I went with basic or desktop, definitely not pure.
Hope this was helpful.

Hi Rosko,
Many thanks for the speedy reply. It helped in some way as I have to stick to VMware... Many thanks anyway
