Remove Installed Programs; Remove Plasma

I have been trying to read (and understand) how to remove or un-install programs. I see mention of using the Q4OS Software Centre and of using Discover. I tried to remove Chromium browser and was denied due to it being a part of Plasma. I was able to remove several programs

I am a bit confused about:  Plasma -and- Trinity are both installed? For my med-spec laptop, I intend to run Plasma and have no need for Trinity. Others I am trying to help do not have the luxury of Plasma. I want to Switch to Trinity and then remove Plasma entirely. I see no way to do this. What am I missing?

Some lo-spec (former Chromebooks) have only 16gb of storage. I want to switch to Trinity and then remove everything not needed to free up space. Advice or a few pointers are needed here. Please.

I see the Trinity-only release is still available for download, but it is the older 5.8 Are there any plans to release Trinity as a 6.7 anytime soon?

Re: Remove Installed Programs; Remove Plasma

If you look here https://sourceforge.net/projects/q4os/files/stable/ you will see the current Plasma and Trinity releases
If it says tde in the iso name then it is a Trinty based release. Others are Plasma
So, you would be looking for https://sourceforge.net/projects/q4os/f … de.r1.iso/
Plasma and Trinity are NOT installed at the same time, hence the different media.
However you CAN add Plasma to Trinity and vice-versa if you wish and have the disk space.

Use the media that is appropriate to your needs.

You can customise the list of software that is installed using the Profile tool but starting with Trinity Basic will be as clean as you need.
Install Bleachbit and use it to clear out un-needed language man files and docs. This will save a few hundred mb and several thousand files.

Re: Remove Installed Programs; Remove Plasma

Thanks. Somehow, I need a nudge to help me learn. Your suggestion about Bleachbit was excellent. I did not know of that program. I see it has Windows, Portable, and Linux versions.

I started new with the .ISO containing Trinity. Again, by trying to change Plasma into Trinity, I was making things harder. I regained about 2gb of space by using Trinity. I am not able to test Bleachbit (for now), so I tested the portable version on Windows. My results are impressive. Disk space recovered: 328.09GB; Files deleted: 273465.
