TDE Classic menu spaghetti

Good day folks.
I have been using Q4OS since 2015. Over that time TDE and I have fallen out of love on more than one occasion and primarily I use Plasma these days.
On every new install of TDE one of the first things I do is switch over to Classic menu - I just cannot work with the alternative.
Next I go to ~/.configtde>menus and remove the symlink to tde-applications.menu
This results in a nice simple menu structure as will be found in .e.g. Xfce.

Yesterday, for the first time ever, I did a full desktop profile install in a VM as part of looking at why an Epson printer won't print via USB in a VM in a different thread.
Goodness me, what a lot of stuff that brings in. Normally I just do a basic.
What this did do is to re-affirm my feeling that the classic menu is really in need of an overhaul.
I hope the screen grabs speak for themselves.

Yes, it's a bit of a legacy from the past. However everyone can easily configure menu and switch its structure:
Welcome screen > switch start menu > menu structure > categories

You can even place a helpful search field into the classic menu:
Control panel > desktop > panels > menus > show search field in tde menu
