Q4OS 6.4 Plasma boot time signicantly delayed by nmbd.service

I recently installed Q4OS 6.4 with the fully featured desktop software profile and Plasma desktop on a late 2013 21.5 inch iMac. The boot up is pretty long, so I ran systemd-analyse blame. As can be seen in my attached screenshot, a full minute and a half are taken up by nmbd.service. The service shows up as failed to start when I run systemctl. I have disabled the nmbd service as other forum posts have mentioned. Some users on the Ubuntu forums think that the nmbd service fails to start (thus delaying the OS bootup) if your computer is using a wireless connection instead of a wired ethernet connection. I think that this samba bug should be fixed or samba should be removed from the full desktop profile. Most non power users are probably using WiFi and won't know to disable or uninstall samba. This issue gives Q4OS a worse first immpression to new users. Other than this issue and needing to install the broadcom sta drivers for the WiFi, Q4OS runs great on this iMac and I really like it.

Re: Q4OS 6.4 Plasma boot time signicantly delayed by nmbd.service

We will investigate the issue and consider removing Samba from the full profile until Debian fixes it. Anyway, thanks for the valuable report smile
