Can we choose between Trinity and Plasma on the Raspberry Pi spin?

Hi,

I am curious about the Raspberry Pi spin for Q4OS and while I think for regular installs it's pretty clear, I'm not really sure what to expect about the spin option even after looking at the manual: https://www.q4os.org/dqa010.html

Is it basically just Plasma by default for that or can we choose at some point? It might be beneficial to make the filename for the download to reflect one or the other if it's the case we can't choose... just a thought.

Anywho, thanks for anyone who can clarify. I would test this myself but don't have an SD card lying around.

Its Trinity by default and honestly with this type of hardware Trinity is a much better choice over Plasma which is a much heavier DE.
Doesnt mean you cant use Plasma down the road, look here,  www.q4os.org/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=27067    look at post 104.

I completely agree and that's kind of why I asked. lol

No hate on Plasma at all but the Pi's aren't known to be power houses that can get something like a threadripper installed on it.

I am not surprised that Plasma can be added in after the fact. I can probably add in any DE that's in the repos and raise hell. big_smile

I also just want to say that I am kind of familiar with Trinity and I really liked it when I setup an older Q4OS install on a relative's home PC. They hardly noticed the difference once I figured out how to get Chromium on there for them.

Based on that experience, I would like to purchase a Pi 5 and put Q4OS on it. The icing on the cake it seems is that I get to run Trinity. smile

Thanks!

@That Random Guy
You can also install Plasma as an additional DE  and try it and use it as needed. It will not affect existing Trinity installation, see https://www.q4os.org/dqa015.html#ddskr

We would appreciate any feedback about your Q4OS RPi experience.

Sure—I'm hoping I can get one pretty soon but will definitely keep the community here in the loop. Thanks again smile
