I run both Q4OS and Linux Mint Mate edition in several VMs. I understand both are Debian based with Mint based on Ubuntu. When I regularly check for app and security updates, I notice Mint / Ubuntu gets more frequent updates than Q4OS / Debian 12.
Is Debian 12 behind in rolling out security updates compared to Ubuntu? If so, anyone know why?
Thanks.

Not in regards to security updates but Ubuntu based distros tend to get more frequent app updates compared to Debian. I run Feren, Neon and Zorin OS that are Ubuntu based and MX, Q4OS and Netrunner that are Debian based and the former always seems to get more frequent updates overall.

Thanks for your feedback. Are the app updates in Ubuntu done by the app developers or by Ubuntu? If it's from the app developers, why doesn't Debian 12 get them as frequent as Ubuntu?

Most of the OS updates for Ubuntu based distros come from Ubuntu but some app updates and system feature updates come from the distros devs. Its the same for Debian based distros but Debian has always preferred stable over cutting edge so they dont move quite as fast with updates/changes.
