How do I fix video tearing

I have a legacy video card. I installed the linux driver for it but made no difference. What is the procedure for fixing this? Thanks.

jacatone@optiplex755-desktop:~$ lspci | grep VGA

Re: How do I fix video tearing

Turn on Vsync in Nvidia settings, which should help.  The driver was necessary for the card to even work but in and of itself its not the cause of the tearing.

Tearing is caused by the framerate of the video card and the refresh rate of the monitor not being in sync with each other. Vsync will make sure the two are working together but expect framerates with that card will be pretty slow.
Im assuming you more than likely have a Core 2 duo cpu in your system so overall performance will be mixed.

Re: How do I fix video tearing

Nvidia drivers in Win11 are way better then the Nvidia drivers in Linux.
