error code 80 on install

error code 80 on install

I have attempted to install Q4OS on 2 different computers and it failed in the same spot.  One computer is an HP15 and the other is a Lenovo, both running Windows 10.  I was intalling onto the C drive of the HP15 and onto a usb drive on the Lenovo.

The error message is "desktop profiler has been exited with error code 80.  Please try to run desktop profiler a few minutes later again".  A following message states that the install log can't be saved.

The last entry in the log was:
W: Problem unlinking the file /var/cache/apt/pkgcache.bin ..."
Error: Installation not successful.

Am I doing something wrong, or is there another problem?

Thanks.  I did take a picture of the log at the point where it failed, if that would be helpful.

- What desktop profile did you attempt to apply ?
- What language/localization do you have on your PC ?
- How much disk space did you assign for Q4OS ?

I followed the install instructions from a utube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8VY_bUXjtM by Gary newell, using the Q4OS Aquarius, WinSetup.exe - 64bit / x64 . from the https://www.q4os.org/downloads1.html site.

The computers are set up for american english and I didn't assign any disk space.  The HP15 has 223gb of free space and the lenovo usb has 29 gb of free space at this time.  The usb contains files named linux64, q4os-winsetup-5.7-r1, and q4os-winsetup-5.7-r1.zip.

The setup program ran for at least 12 + hours on both computers. I don't know if that is normal.

You must assign disk space on the Wubi binary run, see the "Installation size" box https://github.com/q4osteam/q4os-instal … setup1.png

For what do you need USB ?

The setup program ran for at least 12 + hours ..

No, it's not normal, it should take a few minutes to an hour.

So we need the following information:
- What USB are you talking about? What do you need the USB for?
- What Windows drive did you install Q4OS on?
- How much disk space did you assign for Q4OS?
- What desktop profile did you try to apply, full/basic/pure/other ?
- Could you please post the messages from the desktop profiler window ? Or a screenshot.

Sorry, you are losing me.  I am just a basic user with minimal understanding beyond the basics of surfing the internet or reading my email.

The first try to install was on a slow and old HB15 running Windows 10 to be installed on the C drive and the second was on a lenovo using a Vansuny 32GB USB Type-C Flash Drive 2-in-1 Dual Flash Drive USB A + USB C OTG Flash Drive .

I did not allocate any disk space. I do remember something on one of the screens indicating it would need something like 22 G but I don't recall that I needed to actually allocate any space.  Based on the  utube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8VY_bUXjtM by Gary newell, my understanding was that the screen was showing the default parameters.

I probably should have kept notes.  Sorry. 

I believe I used the full profile.

I did take a few pictures with my phone, but I don't have a clue as to how to include them.

We have tested the installer and it worked fine, so we are not able to reproduce the issue. Any screenshot would be helpful, please attach them here or ship them via e-mail support@q4os.org please.

Click on "Post reply". Just under the text box there is a button to select the file to attach. If you want to attach more files, you need to edit the existing post.

i am getting

Error: The uploaded file exceeds the MAX_FILE_SIZE directive that was specified in the HTML form

the jpg are  3500 kb to 7800 kb
