Many times I am unable to lock my workstation. The only workaround is to kill the kdesktop_lock process which then immediately locks the workstation.
What sort of information/details should I post here to help troubleshoot this?

I disabled 'show icons on the desktop' to make my workspace look cleaner and it had an interesting side effect. I'm able to see this message instead of it flashing by when I try and lock my workstation and the lock fails:
"Will not lock the session, as unlocking would be impossible: No appropriate greeter plugin configured."
Any clue?
