[SOLVED] Firefox under 32 bits unexpected not working anymore

I don't understand what happened reciently with my Firefox web browser under my 32 bit non-SSE2 laptop. 2 weeks ago, I could navigate perfectly on it, but today I cannot open Firefox anymore, even reinstalling it. I remember have updated Firefox at 100.xx version not too long and still be able to navigate. Firefox still was usable on my old computer until I start my computer today and I found this issue. Could it have finished support for non-SSE2 old computers reciently? Any suggestion is welcome.

I suggest you to run from the console

$ firefox --ProfileManager

to try to create a new profile. If that works, try to start firefox with that new profile. If that works too, it means that your previous profile was probably corrupted in some way.

From April 2017:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/5 … easenotes/

Ended Firefox Linux support for processors older than Pentium 4 and AMD Opteron

"older than Pentium 4" = non-SSE2

Re: [SOLVED] Firefox under 32 bits unexpected not working anymore

Ok, my processor has no support for firefox from now, that's why on term "Illegal instruction" appears when call
$ firefox --ProfileManager. Now on my old 32 bit pentium III, only Konqueror can be used, but some pages canto be read.  I've tested many browsers with no luck to work while receiving upgrades.
Can be used the last version of Firefox 51 non-SSE2 compatible? Suggestions of alternative browser are welcome.

We would recommend you to install Palemoon from the Q4OS software center, and post back the result.

Re: [SOLVED] Firefox under 32 bits unexpected not working anymore

[SOLVED] I must recognize Palemoon browser works fine and better than Firefox actually stop doing on my old 32bit laptop. I've using and testing Q4os under 32 bits since earlier versions 1.x.x, those days, Palemoon browser new upgrades also finished support (21.xx version, I remember) for 32 bits, so I tried Firefox since then, and never install Palemoon again until now, so I'm gladly surprised Palemoon can be used again under 32 bits.
My feedback about Palemoon:

Best: allows to open advanced html web pages with podcast or radio stations and open easily youtube static videos containing music files. It is also fast opening html basic pages. No photos inside are best to navigate quickly into them. I tested it on an old PIII 900 Ghz 1Gb RAM, SSD disk, over 2 links below as example::

Firefox doesn't allow me almost open this page and play podcast or radio stations from the web. Palemoon does it right.
https://www.rtve.es/play/audios/turbo-3 … 2/6150140/

Pages like this are fast to open and navigate into them, but there are not many digital newspaper with no photos inside:

Cons: Afraid of no updates for Palemoon 27 32bit. Lacks of some useful Text Reader as Safari browser has. Some Add-ons are not useful for this version, nor for not-SSE2 machines.

Final: Not a bad browser, better than Firefox until the end of support, some update for 32bit will be welcome.
Average :8/10
This has been my experience on Palemoon browser. Thank you for your support once again.
