Q4os Windows install not booting; root.disk damaged

This seems to be similar to previously reported problems that were reported fixed in Gemini (4?).

Dell laptop E6230 with legacy boot
Win 10 1904 with updates (MS is in control, not me)
q4os-winsetup-4.6-r1

Events:

Installed Q4os on November 14
Used Q4os lightly until end of November with, I believe, no Windows use
No problems
Did not use laptop until December 22
Win installed several updates and ran a chkdsk maintenance scan
Installed software for USB IR remote receiver, install ran for 5 minutes or more! but completed successfully
Used Win for several days, removed above software and used MCE IR receiver with native Win support, no problems
Installed second 4GB SODIMM on December 27
Would not boot to q4os, stopped with something like: HD1,0 could not find wubilda/HD1,1 (nothing)
Booted into win, q4 boot screen worked fine
Checked this forum for similar problem and reviewed a couple of threads.
Checked C drive and all files in debian11 seemed to be there, root.disk was 10GB which I think is the size I specified on install; wubilda was in debian11\winboot
Reviewed event viewer logs; chkdsk ran on 12/22 and reported root.disk corrupt and unable to fix as not enough memory/storage to repair
Ran disk repair from Security and Maintenance on 12/29, it did the offline repair but completed after 15 - 20 minutes
Boot into q4os went to grub menu
Booted into Win and root.disk now renamed to ROOT~1.DIS dated 12/22 and 0 bytes

Error message from first chkdsk on 12/22:

Record 1 of 1: Corrupt File "\debian11\disks\ROOT~1.DIS <0x31,0xcd8>" ... The record length 0x2b0 is too large for attribute of type 0x80
and instance tag 0x4 in file 0xcd8.  The maximum value is 0x150.
Truncating badly linked attribute records
from file record segment CD8.
corruption found.

I can provide additional log entries.  Unless directed otherwise, I plan to reinstall and see if it happens again.

Thanks.

Re: Q4os Windows install not booting; root.disk damaged

A workaround could be just copy/backup the root.disk file and restore it as soon as Windows remove the active root.disk file. Please post back a result, if possible.

Re: Q4os Windows install not booting; root.disk damaged

Will do.  Just reinstalled and saved the root.disk to off line disk.
