Q4OS 4.4 Gemini released

Now that Debian Linux 11.0 Bullseye is frozen, it won't be long until the final release is announced, so Q4OS 4 Gemini testing branch is approaching the final contours too, see https://www.q4os.org/blog.html#news210401

Re: Q4OS 4.4 Gemini released

Once you get use to Plasma bin you wont want to change.  Great news on Gemini as its taken over as my main Debian based distro.

Re: Q4OS 4.4 Gemini released

Plasma's been my preferred DE for 2 years or so, I had tried versions 3 and 4 and I kind of liked it, but it felt so slow and was such a resource hog that I couldn't stick to it. I used to use a xfce-awesomewm combo, then I started seeing all this posts about 2 year or so ago on how KDE had become a lighter DE, so I gave a try and was impressed; 350mb in Idle. I started using it more and more, found out I could use most of the key combos I used in awesomewm, and here I am, using KDE Plasma, now I can't see myself using anything else, well, maybe awesomewm smile

Re: Q4OS 4.4 Gemini released

Ive used KDE on and off since 2006 and overall have preferred the design and features provided. Plasma became much lighter and it made it really attractive to many, but given the fact that most users are using 8-16gb of ram now, it really wouldnt be a huge issue if the memory usage was higher. Processors, SSDs and memory even in some of the older systems can run a much more feature rich DE as hardware has really improved.

Re: Q4OS 4.4 Gemini released

Will there be a 32 bit version of 4.4 with the Trinity Desktop. Or will 4.4 only be for 64 bit CPUs?

I'm wanting to run a 32 bit version for my dad's old Pentium M laptop which is 32 bit only.

Yes, it will be available as Q4OS Gemini becomes stable.
