Wireless not connecting

I just  uploaded q4os-3.12-i386-instcd.r3 in an old Acer Aspire L3600/year 2007 and 32bits.
I am trying to connecto to my wifi home network but I get the following message in a small window bottom right: TDENetwork Manager Connection attempt failed SSID Not found!
However the network shows up in the available networks and I even enter the password. I am able to connect with other computers (either running Windows or Linux Mint/Tails/Lite)and my mobile devices but not with this old Acer...
Anything I can do? May it be that I need a new wireless driver or a USB Adapter ( tried with with one but it didnt´work either)
Looking forward to some help!
Kind Regards,
DRG

Re: Wireless not connecting

First of all - please open Konsole and run

inxi -F

Copy and paste the output in your reply so we can see what wireless adapter you are using.

Re: Wireless not connecting

If you can get the machine on the web another way then you'll need to install inxi - I thought that they'd finally got round to including it in the ..........ah wait a bit you've used the 32 bit media. I don't think they've updated that with inxi.

However, if you can connect using the onboard ethernet then run

sudo apt install inxi

Re: Wireless not connecting

hi bin!
may I replace darega as I have the same problem.
my built in wifi adapter shows my router but can't connect ("Connection attempt failed SSID Not found")
I connected usb wifi adapter and it works, but I prefer to use my built in adapter.
my built in adapter worked with my previous OS (puppy linux), so I know it's not hardware problem
I attach inxi -F output : (how do i attach??. I will paste it : )

Re: Wireless not connecting

OK the rtl8723ae driver is standard so should not be causing trouble - it's covered by the firmware-realtek package.

However......

Check to make sure any hardware wifi switch is set to on.

Open konsole
1. sudo rfkill list
You should see a list with the wireless adapter in it. If it shows as blocked then
sudo rfkill unblock (id) or just sudo rfkill unblock all (as I recall)

If still no joy

Open konsole
1. lspci
You should see a list of stuff and one of those should be the Realtek RTL8111/8168/8411 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet

1. Right click on the network icon in the system tray - bottom right
2. Deactivate Connection>Disable Wireless
3. Repeat but Enable Wireless

If you don't get the wifi light:-
1. Open konsole
2. sudo modprobe -r rtl8723ae
3. sudo modprobe rtl8723ae

If still no luck, in konsole, sudo apt reinstall firmware-realtek

Reboot and see what you get.
