I permanently use PIA VPN on my Q4OS 64-bit computers. Pia offers now (out of beta) WireGuard® as an alternative to OpenVPN®. They permit 10 simultaneous connections alas don't support 32 bit linux anymore.
I am aware other VPN providers still support 32-bit linux but recently renewed for another 2 years..
WireGuard packages are not included in Synaptic Package Manager in Q4OS 32-bit but I understand they can be added by enabling backports via
$ sudo qrepoadd --gui
I am trying to avoid possible mishandling of my intended actions and wonder if installing WireGuard is an acceptable addition to my Compaq mini with Q4OS 32-bit.
I am having worries interpreting the contents of https://www.wireguard.com/quickstart/ and would request assistance from an expert.
And finally, in terms of complexity and privacy is it a good idea using WireGuard WireGuard or should I just go with https://protonvpn.com/free-vpn instead?

I too want to try it and maybe I do in a VM first, just in case, which I suggest you might want to do too thus avoid compromising your real machine and system. To enable the buster-backports repo use that command in a terminal, hit ok on the warning window that pops up
in the dialog box, from the drop-down menu choose buster-backports
now hit ok to close the box
then update your sources by running
sudo apt-get update
in a terminal. Here's a nice tutorial on how to install and configure wireguard on Debian Buster https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/debian-10 … pn-server/ again, you might want to do this in a VM first and document the process, once you're confident enough apply what you learnt on your real pc. I've done that several times when wanting to try new software and whatnot and it's saved me from wasting time and frustration when things went wrong.
Hope this helps!

Many thanks for providing a link to a set-up guide.
As luck would have it I got an old Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook to which am going to use for trialing the WireGuard installation...
I am aware of numerous other tutorials on installing/configuring wireguard on Debian and, as far as I can determine, the old saying 'There is more than one way to skin a cat' regrettably applies; mental confusion is inevitable, oh well. (I frankly was hoping one of the Q4OS experts went through the wireguard installation process already and would pass-on their experiences (pitfalls) and/or specific set-up instructions).
Thanks again responding to my inquiry!
